LCSD2 Food Services Information:  Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant!  With this funding we are able to offer our elementary students fresh fruits and vegetables for a snack during their school day.  This is in addition to the regular breakfast and lunch programs. With the help of teachers, school nurses, parents and food service staff the funding will enable us to promote good health, nutrition and physical activity.

Literacy Corner:  Ways to Support Literacy at Home!

Reading, and a love for reading, starts at home. Here are a few tips to help your student become a successful reader: 

1. Read it again and again! It’s ok to read your child’s favorite book many times. Help them become more accurate and quick.
2. Dig deeper into the story. Ask questions about what they just read.
3. Read words one more time with feeling.
4. Make books special. Go on trips to the library, have a special place in your house to read, give books as gifts.
5. Talk, Talk, Talk! Talk to your child and use interesting words. This helps build vocabulary and comprehension.

Other News: Community Night with Dr. Lori Desautels from 6:00-7:30PM at Afton Elementary on October 10.
