Kindergarten Registration Open House Information (Wednesday, May 5, 2021, from 5-7 pm)

Parents and upcoming Kindergarten students are invited to:

Kindergarten Registration Open House

                   Thayne Elementary

Wednesday, May 5, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Please read this entire letter/checklist to prepare for the Open House.

 

COMPLETE BEFORE REGISTRATION NIGHT:

  • Online student registration on Infinite Campus (this is not the same as “kindergarten round-up”). It is important to do this as soon as possible so your student is listed in our system and will be assigned a teacher, get notifications, K-Day invitation, etc. Please go to https://tech.lcsd2.org/parents/online-registration/ and follow the instructions.

ITEMS TO BRING TO REGISTRATION NIGHT:

  • Child’s immunization record (check with your health care provider or public health to see what is needed)
  • Official state issued birth certificate (must be state issued – this can take several weeks to arrive if you need to order it from vital records)
  • Guardian’s driver’s license
  • Bring your student. Teachers will be doing activities with students.
  • If you need to request a teacher, “Classroom Placement Applications” are available online at https://thayne.lcsd2.org/application-for-classroom-placement/ and must be received at the school no later than May 5, 2021. (FYI-the due date for older students is April 30th.)

 

Please note: 

  • If you cannot attend, please contact the school office at 307-885-2380 to schedule an appointment for your child’s registration.
  • If your student will not be attending Thayne Elementary for the 2021-2022 school year, please let us know, so we can remove him/her from our list.
  • FYI – Plans are being made to hold “K-Day” the morning of Friday, Aug. 20, 2021. More information coming from the bus garage.

Message from LCSD#2 concerning age requirements to start kindergarten:

With an amendment to State Statute 21-4-102, effective August 1, 2021, a student may register in kindergarten in the year in which the student’s fifth birthday falls on or before August 1. Previously, the student’s birthday had to be on or before September 15.

Upon an approved request to the Board of Trustees, a student may register in kindergarten in the year in which his fifth birthday falls on or before September 15 if, based upon the kindergarten readiness assessment, the District determines that the student is mature enough (developmentally ready, both academically and socially) to attend kindergarten. Parents will need to submit an Application for Early Entrance to Kindergarten prior to May 1 of the year that precedes kindergarten enrollment.
