D.O.L.
Daily Oral Language

Each day, we correct one sentence with three or more errors in it.  At the end of each week, the students are to correct these sentences again, on their own.  The amount of corrections necessary dictate the amount of points that week's D.O.L is worth.  Student's get one point for each correction that they make.

Sentences have grammatical errors such as: punctuation, capitals (or lack there of), wrong word usage, etc.

Students know that they need to start off by asking themselves these three questions:
1) Beginning of the sentence - does it start with a capital?
2) End of the sentence - is there something there to stop it?
3) Inside the sentence - are there any names, places or things that need to be capitalized?

From there, they know to reread the sentence and make sure it makes sense!
